The Utahraptor (pronounced: YOO-tah-RAP-tor) is known as the robber from Utah. This is because the very first fossil find was in Utah, USA. This name “Utahraptor” came about because they were large and terrifying predator that may have hunted in packs, attacking even very large animals, perhaps even large sauropos and ankylosaurids. The existed during the early cretaceous period between 132 -100 million years ago.
They were a bird like dinosaur that can grow up to 6.5 meters long, 2 meters high, and weight up to a ton. Utahraptor are lightly built to allow for fast movement. They have a curved, flexible neck, and a big head. Their powerful jaw is set with sharp serrated teeth.
Utahraptor walked on two legs. It had four-toed feet, with a 9-15 inch sickle-like middle toe claws and other toes had smaller claws. Each of its three fingers on each of their large arm is sharp and curved claws. They also have a long tail that has bony rods running along the spine, giving it a rigid look. Its tail was used as a balance tool and fast turning ability.
They were meat eaters that ate almost anything it could slash and tear apart. The would travel in packs and hunt in packs.
