Walking Through Dinosaurs Periods

Over 220 million years ago, during the Mesozoic Era dinosaurs dominated the earth.  During this times when the dinosaurs lived, the Earth’s continents were jammed together into a “super-continent” known as “Pangaea.  This stretched from north to south poles and its central region was a vast unfriendly desert.  Also during then the earth was much warmer than now.

Between the Cenozoic Era, there were various period where changes to earth occur.

Late Triassic Period - 220 million years ago
Jurassic Period – 208-149 million years ago
Cretaceous Period – 127 million years ago
Cretaceous – 106 million years ago
Late Cretaceous – 65 million years ago

At some stage in time around 65 million years ago, just before the beginning of the Cenozoic Era dinosaurs when into extinction.  Theory suggested that during that period high volcanic and tectonic activities were high and it was the major cause of extinction.  Other theory suggested that asteroid impact caused major changes to the climate which dinosaurs could not adapt.

Exactly what happened remains a mystery, but palaeontologist’s study of their dinosaur fossil remains to learn about the amazing prehistoric world of dinosaurs.
